Peter's Yard Sea Salt Sourdough Flatbreads, 115g
A sturdy sea salt flatbread with a 25% rye sourdough: tangy, clean and good with any cheese.
Peter's Yard Sea Salt Sourdough Flatbreads, in brief.
Peter's Yard Sea Salt Sourdough Flatbreads are thin flatbreads made with wheat and wholemeal wheat flours, a 25% rye sourdough, rapeseed oil, muscovado sugar and 3% sea salt. There is no milk in the list.
The label data gives 9.4g of fibre per 100g and a flatbread of 8g. They are plain enough for any cheese, with a clean, salty finish.
A flatbread is a sturdier, flatter cracker, and this one is built on a big sourdough: 25% of the recipe is a rye sourdough, which gives a clear tang. Wholemeal wheat flour adds depth, rapeseed oil keeps the saturated fat low (0.8g per 100g) and 3% sea salt seasons it.
They are simple and versatile, a flatbread for the cheese board, the soup bowl and the dip.

The story behind Peter's Yard
Peter's Yard is a crispbread brand inspired by Peter Ljungquist, a baker near Ystad in southern Sweden, and started by two English friends, Ian and Wendy. Its crispbreads take the Swedish idea of a thin, dry, long keeping bread and make it with a rye sourdough, milk and a little honey, which gives a lightly tangy, crackly crispbread that flatters cheese. The Original Sourdough Crispbread lists milk, rye flour, wheat flour, a 12% rye sourdough, wholemeal wheat flour, honey and salt, with only 2.8g of fat per 100g on the label data. The range now includes flavoured sourdough crackers such as fig and spelt and rosemary and sea salt, sturdier flatbreads plain and seeded, and a selection box for gifting.
Packaging: a 115g pack. Once the pack is open, fold it tightly closed or tip the crackers into an airtight tin, and keep them somewhere cool and dry. Damp air is what softens a cracker. The pack gives the best before date.
