Nairn's Rough Oatcakes, 291g
The traditional rough oatcake: 90% wholegrain oats, rugged and nutty, high fibre on the label and made for strong cheese.
Nairn's Rough Oatcakes, in brief.
Nairn's Rough Oatcakes are the rugged, open textured oatcake: 90% wholegrain oats with sunflower oil, palm fruit oil, sea salt and sodium bicarbonate. The pack carries vegan, vegetarian and high fibre claims.
At 10.4g of fibre per 100g on the label data and 291g to the pack, they are a hearty everyday oatcake. A serving on the label is 10g.
Rough oatcakes are made with coarser oats, so they bake into a rugged, open round with plenty of texture. This is the traditional Scottish style, and Nairn's recipe is almost all oats: 90% wholegrain oats, with a little oil, sea salt and sodium bicarbonate.
That makes them nutty, filling and very good with strong cheese. The large 291g pack suits a household that eats oatcakes every day.

The story behind Nairn's
Nairn's story begins in 1896, when John and Sarah Nairn opened their bakery in Strathaven, a market town in Lanarkshire. Today Nairn's bakes in Edinburgh, and oats are the whole point: oatcakes rough and fine, cheese oatcakes, seeded and organic oatcakes, and a gluten free range. The oatcake is the Scottish cracker, mostly wholegrain oats with a little oil and salt, baked into a nutty, crumbly round that loves strong cheese; Nairn's Rough Oatcakes list 90% wholegrain oats. The gluten free oatcakes, crackers and flatbreads are made with gluten free oats, and Nairn's own label notes that some people who avoid gluten also react to avenin, a protein in oats.
Packaging: a 291g pack. Once the pack is open, fold it tightly closed or tip the crackers into an airtight tin, and keep them somewhere cool and dry. Damp air is what softens a cracker. The pack gives the best before date.
