Crosta & Mollica Classic Torinesi Breadsticks, in brief.
Crosta & Mollica Classic Torinesi are Italian style breadsticks made with wheat flour, extra virgin olive oil (7%), malted barley flour, salt and yeast. Torinesi takes its name from Turin, the city most associated with grissini.
They are long, dry and crunchy, made for the table: with antipasti, soup, dips or a board of cured meats and cheese. The label gives a portion as 60g, half the pack.
Breadsticks are the Italian answer to the cracker. A yeasted dough is rolled into long thin sticks and baked until dry right through, so they snap cleanly and keep well. These Torinesi use a short list of ingredients, with extra virgin olive oil making up 7% of the recipe and malted barley flour for colour and flavour.
They work where a flat cracker is awkward. Wrap them with Parma ham, stand them in a glass on the table, or dip them in soup and hummus. On a cheese board they add height and a different crunch.
