Ritz crackers were launched in 1934 by the National Biscuit Company, Nabisco, when America was deep in the Great Depression, and the name promised a bite of the good life. The cracker is round and golden, with a scalloped edge and seven holes, rich and lightly sweet with salt on top, the kind people eat by the stack. The Ritz Original on our shelf lists wheat flour, palm oil, sugar, glucose fructose syrup, raising agents, salt and barley malt flour, and carries a vegan claim on the label.
