The Edinburgh biscuit makers of 1830, now baking savoury Penguin Bites.

The McVitie's name goes back to 1830, when Robert McVitie set up a bakery shop in Edinburgh; the business became McVitie and Price. Today McVitie's belongs to pladis, formed in 2016 when the Istanbul based Yildiz brought United Biscuits and other companies together. McVitie's is a sweet biscuit maker first, and it appears on our cracker shelf for one reason: Penguin Bites, which take the Penguin name into baked savoury snacking for the first time, in cheese, lightly salted and salt and vinegar flavours. They are small, crisp snack crackers for lunchboxes and bowls rather than the cheese board.
