The McVitie's name goes back to 1830, when Robert McVitie set up a bakery shop in Edinburgh; the business became McVitie and Price. Today McVitie's belongs to pladis, formed in 2016 when the Istanbul based Yildiz brought United Biscuits and other companies together.
