The McVitie's name goes back to 1830, when Robert McVitie set up a bakery shop in Edinburgh; the business became McVitie and Price. Today McVitie's belongs to pladis, formed in 2016 when the Istanbul based Yildiz brought United Biscuits and other companies together. McVitie's is a sweet biscuit maker first, and it appears on our cracker shelf for one reason: Penguin Bites, which take the Penguin name into baked savoury snacking for the first time, in cheese, lightly salted and salt and vinegar flavours.
